Longview veneers can enhance one tooth or an entire smile
Porcelain veneers, also called facings or dental laminates, are ultra-thin porcelain sheaths that are placed on the front surfaces of visible teeth to cover imperfections. Dr. Karen Frazer Rea may recommend veneers for her Longview patients to cover a number of aesthetic flaws such as:
Impressions will be taken of the prepared teeth and sent to a quality dental lab along with instructions from the doctor. A skilled ceramist will create the veneers and they will be sent to our office when complete.

- Gaps between teeth that are spaced too far apart
- Mild misalignment that is only a cosmetic concern
- Discoloration that does not respond to teeth whitening
- Chips or fractures
- Irregularly shaped teeth

The consultation
During this appointment, the Dr. Karen Frazer Rea will evaluate your smile and discuss your concerns and goals. She will explain what veneers can, and cannot, achieve as well as the estimated cost of the treatment. She will answer any questions you may have and develop a treatment plan. It is important to remember that this treatment is irreversible, because the teeth are altered in preparation for placement.Preparation
During the preparation appointment, the doctor will remove a slight amount of enamel equivalent to the thickness of the veneer from each tooth to be treated. This allows the veneers to fit well for a natural look without added bulk.Impressions will be taken of the prepared teeth and sent to a quality dental lab along with instructions from the doctor. A skilled ceramist will create the veneers and they will be sent to our office when complete.
Placement
When we receive the veneers, in about two weeks, you will return to our office for placement. The doctor will test the veneers by placing them on the teeth temporarily. If any adjustments need to be made, the doctor can sculpt them by hand. When the look and fit are satisfactory, they are permanently bonded in place.Aftercare
Maintaining veneers is actually quite simple. Care for them as you would natural teeth with normal brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups. It is recommended that you avoid abrasive whitening toothpastes and refrain from chewing on hard objects such as ice. The doctor will give you complete instructions to help you maintain your beautiful new smile for many years. Call 903.753.3531 to schedule an appointment today.Related Articles
