Natural looking smile makeover with porcelain dental veneers in Longview

Are you frustrated with teeth that are cracked, chipped, slightly misaligned, or stained? Did you know that you could have a brand new, show-stopping smile in less than a month? Porcelain dental veneers are becoming an increasingly popular option for patients to achieve a dramatic and effective smile makeover.

Dental veneers are ultra-thin pieces of ceramic porcelain that are adhered to the front of existing teeth to mask a variety of minor imperfections or flaws. They are one of the quickest and most sought after ways to transform a smile.

Why are veneers made of porcelain?

Porcelain is a strong, durable material that closely resembles natural tooth enamel. It is hard, glassy, translucent, biocompatible, and resistant to stains, making it ideal for use in dental restorations. Porcelain restorations do not cause any adverse biological reactions on the teeth, making them a non-toxic solution.

What issues can porcelain veneers address?

There are many cosmetic concerns that can be covered with dental veneers, including:

  • Discoloration - Several types of teeth discoloration don't respond well to traditional whitening methods. For patients who have stained teeth due to medication or excessive fluoride, veneers can give you a flawless white smile
  • Small gaps - Teeth that are spaced further apart than normal can be corrected with veneers
  • Imperfections - Teeth that have been chipped or broken can be restored to a natural appearance
  • Proportions - Teeth that are shorter than normal due to grinding
  • Thin enamel - As we age, the enamel on our teeth can become thin, causing the teeth to look yellow
Porcelain veneers are typically placed in two or three appointments. During the initial consultation, we will examine the teeth to determine if you are a candidate for dental veneers. Once we determine that veneers are right for you, we will set up an appointment to prepare the teeth.

Preparation for veneers involves removing a small portion of the enamel from the front of teeth to allow room for the veneer. Local anesthetic is used to keep you comfortable. Afterward, impressions are taken and color is chosen and then sent off to a lab for custom fabrication.

Once your veneers are constructed, you will come back to the office for permanent placement. Teeth will be cleaned and buffed to allow proper adhesion. The veneers will be checked one last time for proper color, size, and shape before being adhered to the front of your teeth.
